Business
A legacy of innovation, a tradition of opportunity, once a major manufacturing and retail center (the home of Frigidaire appliances, NCR cash registers, McCall’s publishing and printing empire, among others). Dayton’s history of innovation has created an increasingly diverse business community. While Dayton maintains a solid manufacturing base, new service industries such as health care, education, banking and on-line services have become increasingly important. The Miami Valley Research Park, a university-related international technological research center located in the suburbs of Kettering and Beavercreek, is typical of the manner in which local business leaders and government officials are working together to provide the best possible opportunities for business, employment and the environment in the Dayton area.
